Affordability and Financial Security
Credit unions help members manage everyday costs, navigate financial challenges, and build greater stability through affordable financial products and people-first support.
Financial security is about more than making ends meet today. By helping members keep more of their money, build savings, and access support when unexpected challenges arise, credit unions create stronger foundations for the future.
THE EVERYDAY CREDIT UNION DIFFERENCE
Helping Members Keep More of Their Money
Credit unions help make everyday life more affordable by delivering tangible financial value through higher savings yields, lower loan rates, and fewer fees. Across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia, members received billions of dollars in direct financial benefits in 2025.
That value puts money back into the hands of members, helping individuals and families manage everyday expenses, build greater financial stability, and keep more of what they earn.

THERE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST
Providing Stability During Uncertainty
Financial security can be tested quickly when an unexpected disruption affects a household’s income. During the government shutdown, credit unions across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia responded with financial relief designed to help affected members manage expenses and maintain stability while paychecks were delayed.
From zero-interest loans and payment assistance to emergency relief and community support, credit unions adapted their response to the needs of the people and communities they serve.
214,500
Credit unions provide employment for more than 200,000 people across Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Virginia.
121,100
Over 120,000 jobs are directly tied to payroll and benefits that are reinvested in local economies.
Empowered employees create stronger workplaces and better member experiences. Across our footprint, credit unions are investing in programs that care for staff, foster leadership, and build pathways for the next generation of credit union professionals.
Leading with a people-first culture
Georgia United Credit Union’s culture centers on service and respect. Known for their CEO’s hands-on leadership style and their team’s commitment to community impact, the credit union prioritizes employee well-being and celebrates a sense of purpose that inspires both staff and members.
Developing future leaders
Redstone Federal Credit Union partnered with Pisgah High School to open the first student-run branch in Jackson County. Operated by trained high school students, the branch gives young people real-world experience in money management, customer service, and financial literacy. The program prepares the next generation of credit union leaders while promoting workforce readiness in North Alabama.
“Credit union employees are change-makers. Every day they show up with purpose—helping their neighbors save, borrow, and build better lives.
When we invest in our people we’re not just strengthening our teams; we’re strengthening the communities and local economies they help power.”
